Skills and Techniques

Everything in my shop is handmade, and because each is individually made, normal irregularities in sizes, stitching or uniformity can be expected; keep in mind that irregularities in handmade items are not uncommon, but they do not affect the look or quality of the item, only adds to each one uniqueness.
I have several favorite designs that I like to make in different fabrics or color combinations, but since I don’t use specific patterns sizes are approximate, making each item a bit different and exclusively yours. Also, because computer monitors differ, the colors shown might vary from the actual color.
All my ‘creations’ are one of a kind, even when working on special orders (weddings, showers, dance team, etc.) when quantity of a particular item is to be made with specific fabrics and colors, each item has a little something different from the other, resulting in unique one of a kind items.
Custom orders are welcomed, just send me an email with your needs!

Get to Know

My mom taught me to sew and to hand embroider. Thru the years I have dabbled in different crafts, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, etc., I enjoy them all! I always sewed for fun, and love making dance costumes, started with my daughter’s first tutu, she is now all grown up (a dancer/choreographer). When I retired, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands, and well, sewing and embroidering took a lot of that extra time I had on my hand, and I became the costumer for a local ballet company.

As most sewers do, I always have an abundance of fabrics on hand, and just can’t seem to part from even the smallest scrap of fabric or trim. Well my sewing room closet, chests and drawers are brimming with fabrics, laces, brocades, broadcloth, velvet, silk, tulle, anything and everything!
I also love making old things into something new and totally different, jackets into skirts; t-s into quilts, shirts into aprons. And even though what I really love is sewing and machine embroidery, there isn’t a craft that I can pass up. I am always coming up with new ideas,
When my daughter was planning her wedding she enlisted my ‘sewing services’ to create one of a kind items for her bridal party and to give as shower game prices. Several of the shower guests asked how they could place orders for their own weddings, and what other things did I make, I since I don’t seem to be able to resist the “do you think you could make this” or “can you make that for me”? “The Green Papillon” was born! The perfect union of my passion for sewing, and a chance for all my lovely fabrics to shine!

Why the name "The Green Papillon"? Well, some of my bags and purses carried the name “2nd Hand Bag” but that name did not describe all the things that I make, I wanted a name that would not only reflect the products, but would also encompass things that I love, “The Green Papillon” does just that: my products are ‘green’; butterflies are a symbol of 'rebirth' and I think my designs give pieces of fabrics a new life; and yes, you guessed it, I am crazy about butterflies.

I hope you enjoy browsing thru my ‘eclectic’ collection!
PS: A percentage of everything sold is donated to a local non-profit dance organization to help with their dance scholarship programs!
