Industrial Theme Hot Riveted Railroad Trestle Table
The pictured table is inspired by the railroad bridges and other late 19th and early 20th century industrial construction found throughout the Pittsburgh area. Every piece for sale in this store is made entirely by hand in my own shop as a tribute to the craftsmen who came before us. Construction begins with locally sourced hot rolled steel strip and angle. The metal pieces are sawed to length using an antique industrial power hacksaw. Holes for the rivets are punched by hand with a compound leverage punching tool. Each of the several hundred rivets are heated individually with a torch and set with either a vintage pneumatic mechanical press or a pneumatic rivet hammer; just like over a hundred years ago. Consequently, if you look closely you will notice that each rivet is a little different; just like the real thing.
The table tops are constructed from reclaimed lumber sourced locally. Given the intermittent and unpredictable supply of reclaimed lumber, the one thing I can tell you for sure is that your table top will not look exactly like the one in the picture. Every one is different. However, I do my very best to accommodate customer preferences. So, if you are looking for a specific shade for the top or different color for the legs or even a different size or height; please let me know. I can accommodate most of those requests at no extra charge. Unless you request otherwise, I finish the legs in a satin black powdercoat and the wood top gets a distressed finish sealed with a durable polyurethane. Each leg is equipped with four threaded leveling feet to compensate for irregular floors.
I don't know exactly what this weighs but it comes in somewhere between 250 and 350 pounds. So, when you move it into your home or office be sure to eat your Wheaties and recruit the assistance of several strong friends.
Everything I sell is made to order. It will take six to eight weeks to build this after you order.

Everything I sell is made to order. Because of that, you should expect it to take several weeks for a product to be built and made ready to ship after you order. The amount of time it takes to build something varies from one product to another and also depends upon how much other work is in the shop at the time. Please refer to the product description for a better estimate on each product and for the best estimate, please send me a message.
When you order something from me, you are commissioning a piece of artwork constructed specifically for you and made to your specifications. Of course, any product I advertise is standardized to a degree. But the fact remains that it is built specifically for the customer that orders it. You are not buying a ready made product that happens to be sitting in inventory. Each piece requires a considerable investment in terms of materials, labor and also the cost of freight. Because of that, I simply cannot accept returns, cancellations or exchanges on an unrestricted basis. I don't like having to put that statement out there in such uncompromising terms but experience has unfortunately made it a necessity. I have run into a situation in which a customer commissioned a custom piece of work. When they received it they just didn't like the way it looked in the room and wanted to return it. A business like Ikea can afford to accommodate that. I cannot. If something is damaged in transit or in some other way defective, I will of course make it right. Everything I ship is insured so that we're both protected. If you are really unhappy with something once you get it, I will work with you to try to find a new home for it. But I can't guarantee that effort will be successful. And given that some of the costs, freight most notably, are not recoverable it is likely that you will not recoup the entire purchase price even if I am able to find a new home for your piece. The bottom line is as follows: I stand behind my work 100% and will take responsibility for defects or damage in transit. But if you've just changed your mind I'll try to help but make no guarantees.
