GOLDEN SUNSTONE Faceted SHAMROCK Gemstone 18.81 cts fgs92
Details
GOLDEN SUNSTONE SHAMROCK, a superb Virtual Reality Faceted Gem, cut to resemble a 4-leaved clover. Golden Sunstone is a trademarked variety of labradorite, a member of the plagioclase group of feldspar minerals. These minerals are abundant worldwide and are constituents of many types of rocks, but are seldom transparent. Facetable labradorite is actually quite rare and only occurs in a few localities. The labradorite found in Oregon that is widely marketed as sunstone occurs in a range of colors including light and dark yellow, red, green and pink. Oregon sunstone is the official state gem and has become a jewelry marketplace staple in the last 10-20 years.
Golden Sunstone (TM) is unique in terms of transparency and its ability to take an exceptionally high polish. This results in brilliancy equivalent to such hard gemstones as chrysoberyl and sapphire. You will be amazed at the reflectivity and sparkle of this material. Joel is the world's only seller of Golden Sunstone, which is notable for both its rich and intense light golden yellow color, and also for the unusually fine cutting that Joel has demanded for the material. Golden Sunstone is flawless to the unaided eye and this extreme transparency also makes these cut gems so bright. Jewelers have actually mistaken cut Golden Sunstone for fancy yellow diamonds!!
This one-of-a-kind "shamrock" is a superb and unique example of "Virtual Reality" cutting (this name is protected by copyright), developed by Joel Arem and gem cutter Tom Olenick many years ago. It is one of a series of stones developed to showcase the cutting style in two specific materials: danburite and golden sunstone. Its dimensions are 17 x 16 x 11.6 mm and it weighs 18.81 carats.
VirtualReality cutting produces geometric images that seem to float within the body of their host gemstones. Meticulous control of angles, proportions and surface polish allow the images to be enhanced, changed, expanded and intensified. These subtle modifications, combined with changes in gemstone shape, yield an endless series of new and different images and effects.
Virtual Reality cutting, applied to the creation of stars, crosses and other well-known symbols, adds a totally new dimension to the potential of danburite (and golden sunstone) gemstones as objects of art and adornment. While it is true that such patterns have been applied to faceted gemstones in the past, the results have been less than exciting. The amazing brilliancy and transparency of danburite and golden sunstone now enables the full potential of such imagery to be realized in jewelry. These same properties also have led to the creation of an entirely new generation of gemstone products. Virtual Reality cuts are EXCLUSIVELY available from Debby and Joel Arem's shops. We will continue to refund to customers any amount that greatly exceeds our actual cost of shipping and handling.
ORDERS OUTSIDE USA: International First Class rates are now crazy: $16.50 for any package weighing from 1-5 ounces. Even an order for 2-3 small bead items may cost $16.50 or more, depending on the type of material (stone versus resin, for example). Reviews
Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
