Beach in a Bottle Sun Face Eye Catcher

Whenever I get a chance to visit family and friends in and around Brielle, my home town for 36 years, I try to include a drive by the Manasquan Inlet before heading home. If time is on my side, I park my car, walk up to the beach, breathe in the salty air and watch the waves as they crash into the rock jetty. On a good day, I will return home recharged, with shells and other gifts from the sea in a zip lock bag.

Recently, while looking for the right shell to drill a hole through and incorporate into one of my Eyecatchers, I noticed all the sand in the bottom of the bags of shells and stuff I had gathered from past beach combing days. Sand from the Manasquan Inlet Beach before Sandy. Sand before the storm that ravaged and changed my Jersey Shore forever. I filled several small glass bottles, put a cork in each one and placed them on my windowsill while I thought about what I would do with them.
