Six ( 6) rare antique Qing Dynasty silver beads ( 1644-1911) are only a few of the unique focal beads of this 28" long , hand knotted on black silk, limited edition necklace .
This elegant necklace makes a bold statement with the large vintage 16mm 1970s Chinese black cinnabar beads which are hugged either side by the antique Chinese ornately etched silver beads from the Ching ( Qing Dynasty)
► Genuine cinnabar beads are made from a lacquer which is derived from a tree sap found in China. The tree is tapped like a maple and the resulting gum is purified by heating and then made into lacquer by adding a solvent. This resulting lacquer is slowly added in many layers over a wood base. The lacquer can be colored in various hues including black, red, green, yellow and brown although most people are only aware of the red cinnabar.
These many layers of lacquer are then hand carved with intricate designs representing various symbols or images found in nature such as birds and flowers.◀
Vintage black onyx beads in 3 different sizes: 10mm,14mm and 20mm as well as black onyx abacus shaped beads which we had custom cut in Hong Kong during the early 1980s, make up the majority of beads in this hand knotted necklace. (there are 25mm to the inch ).
◉ All the stone beads which we imported back in the 1970s- 1980s - and which I use in all my designs - were precision cut in China with a uniform polish and perfectly round - the pride in workmanship was incredible back then - sadly the majority of the stone beads which are now being imported to this country come from India where the standards of cutting are no where near those of China over 30 years ago.◉
The vintage Tibetan turquoise is also approximately 14mm ( a bit larger than 1/2" ) and beautifully matches the vintage African turquoise.
Little silver plated pewter beads have been placed to either side of the black cinnabar for more definition and texture.
This long dramatic necklace will arrive gift wrapped in a vintage Chinese embroidered silk purse all ready for gift giving.
◉ I also sell these vintage embroidered silk brocade purses - available in 3 different sizes - in my other Etsy vintage supply shop - EurekaEureka.etsy.com

IMPORTANT NOTICE: POSTAGE RATES HAVE RISEN DRAMATICALLY IN 2020
ORDERS INSIDE USA: A charge of $4.00 covers any first class shipment up to 15 ounces. Our beads vary so much in weight that it is impossible for us to apply a single add-on charge for multiple product orders. We will continue to refund to customers any amount that greatly exceeds our actual cost of shipping and handling.
ORDERS OUTSIDE USA: International First Class rates are now crazy: $16.50 for any package weighing from 1-5 ounces. Even an order for 2-3 small bead items may cost $16.50 or more, depending on the type of material (stone versus resin, for example). We apologize in advance if we have to adjust the postage cost of an order that has been placed. We will understand if an order is rescinded when the postage cost is too high relative to the product value.
All international orders have contents described as "loose beads" and are flagged as "commercial samples" or " gift" if you prefer to make your life easier when receiving your beads. If you'd like us to mark your order as " gift" instead please let us know!
All our beads are inspected one by one before being shipped. They are individually wrapped to protect them and then put in little plastic ziploc bags.
All vintage beaded jewelry is either shipped in a little gift box tied with a ribbon or in a vintage Chinese embroidered silk purse.
If you ever have a problem with a damaged bead or jewelry, don't hesitate to contact us. We are only human, and with so many orders going out on a daily basis, there is always room for error. We will replace your order (assuming we have more in stock), issue you a store credit, or give you a full refund if the item is returned in the same condition as it was shipped within 7 days of receiving your order if you are not fully satisfied. You must notify us as soon as you receive your order if there is a problem.
We want you to be 100% thrilled with your purchases!
We value each and every customer and are delighted that you have chosen to shop in our store! Customer relations are extremely important to us and we pride ourselves on the authenticity of what we sell, how we package it, and being accessible to all of you should a question or a problem ever arise.

Reviews
Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
