Unusual Handmade Hammered, Textured & Oxidized Copper Cuff

This slip-on cuff looks very graceful on, because it doesn't disrupt the visual line from arm to hand. It's also practical, as there are no open ends to catch on things from the bottom or "business side" of your wrist - also the curled loop is on the side toward your body, so it's not going to catch on anything either (or painfully impact against hard surfaces around you). The flat section floating atop your hand lays there lightly and, because the rest of the bracelet is on a single plane, will swivel on that plane to tilt up and fall back down, together with your hand, as you pursue your activities. It's been annealed several times in the working, so the metal isn't fatigued, and is tempered and work-hardened with grit-graduated sequences of overall polishing before and again after oxidizing in a traditional sulfur bath.

That patina is there to stay, and won't be sullied with fingerprints because it's been well-rubbed, after polishing to a high gleam, with the very fine British-made Renaissance brand microcrystalline wax - the stuff they use in museums. I prefer this sequence of treatments over the sealants many use to prevent tarnish, as there is nothing like a gradually aged natural patina that has taken on body oils and your personal chemistry, along with whatever is in the atmosphere where you live, work and play. It's an evolving look of realness, and always absolutely lovely. Sealants, on the other hand, wear unevenly so when they do finally allow a natural patina to occur it's always disrupted by the pattern of the sealant's wear and not that of the metal's own response to its environment. If you love copper as I do, you'll want it treated as lovingly as I've treated this very unique, one-of-a-kind handwrought cuff.
