PDF Pattern, Crocheted Lariate w Rizo Beads by theNCTeddyBearLady

This pattern features an asymmetrical and eclectic mix of three different sizes and colors of seed beads, two different sizes of crystal rondelles paired with Rizo beads. the end result is a one-of-a-kind lariat that may be worn to dress up or dress down for every day or any special occasion you can imagine.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

This pattern design was all about featuring particular kinds of bead. It features not only top drilled Rizo beads but also three different styles of 11/0 seed beads as well as faceted crystals. Each type of bead has unique features that make the texture and color variations of this design work. In order to make your selections equally interesting, you need to understand that not all seed beads are created equal. For the purposes of this pattern, let us compare the three different 11/0 beads used in the, prototype, the blue and gold version. Looking at the lower half of the close-up in Picture #5, it should be clear that the three different beads vary in more than color. They are all 11/0's but the gold ones are larger and less uniform than the rainbow blue beads . The faceted peacock iris beads are even less uniform. The reason for these differences may be found in the origins and ages of the beads.

Of recent manufacture, the rainbow blue beads were made in Japan and the gold beads in Czechoslovakia. The faceted peacock iris beads were also made in Czechoslovakia, just not recently. They are over 100 years old. The difference between these beads is precisely why they were chosen for this cable. Their varying size, shape, uniformity as well as color create interest and texture in the finished cable. For this designer, that is a good thing. If it is not a good thing for you, choose different beads. Just be aware that choosing beads with more uniformity will change the finished measurements of your cable. Forty-nine rainbow blue beads do not produce the same length of cable as forty-nine of the faceted peacock iris beads, forty-nine gold beads or, for that matter, forty-nine of whatever beads you choose.

To insure that the design works out as planned, you need to crochet samples using each of the different beads chosen for your project. Once completed, the samples need to be carefully measured and, as needed, adjustments made to the bead counts suggested in the pattern.

Materials Used

The pattern is made from paper and ink. The finished lariat is created from three different styles, types and colors of seed beads, Faceted crystals, Rizo Beads, perle cotton, Super-Lon and your stitching skills.
