Hattie Carnegie Heron Egret Bird Lucite Figural Brooch Book Piece
Vintage Hattie Carnegie Heron Brooch Pin is an iconic classic unsigned figural. This iconic figural brooch book piece can be found in Classic American Costume Jewelry Volume 2 Book By Jacqueline Rehmann on page 107. This brooch version is only slightly different in terms of coloring.
This gorgeous creature is composed of a salmon pink molded lucite, pave clear rhinestones, and enameled feathers. The lucite has some white marbling. The setting is a gold plated figural design in an Egret or Heron style. Beautiful and well made brooch, this is absolutely stunning and elegant, perfect for the vintage or Hattie Carnegie collector.
The head and body are made with a deep salmon pink colored thermoplastic set in a bold gold plated metal. He has a crest of pavé rhinestones on top of his head with smaller accent feathers of cream enamel and a blue rhinestone eye. The feathers have a creamy pearlized enamel, with a hint of pale pink, and fold over his coral lucite body with 3 lines of pavé rhinestone tail feathers and a line of pavé rhinestones under his belly. His legs are long and he is perched on a pavé rhinestone branch. The brooch closure has a working safety clasp. the foundation, feathers, and legs of this awesome bird with a body. Excellent condition, the Heron is a substantial size, measuring 3" tall and 1 1/4" wide. All stones are present with excellent clear color. If examined very closely, there is a tiny amount of glue that can be seen near his eye. This brooch pin is a work of art, no doubt about it, and beautifully made. I believe this to be an unsigned Hattie Carnegie as it is identical in everything but color to other signed Carnegie pins. It is in absolutely wonderful condition with no missing stones, no evident metal wear, and a properly functioning pinback. (Inventory Reference N-120418-#2)
This comes from an estate in the Hamptons spanning many years. She had several pieces from designers such as Ciner, Coro, Danecraft, Eisenberg, Givenchy, Hattie Carnegie, Judy Lee, Juliana (DeLizza and Elster), Hattie Carnegie, Kramer, Krementz, Miriam Haskell, Sarah Coventry, Schreiner, Tiffany and Company, and Trifari along with many other pieces by Monet, Napier, and many others.
Numerous pieces are book pieces and many had matching pieces so many demi-parures are available. I acquired so much of this jewelry that I will be working on offering it in the store for years to come.
This would make a lovely addition to your jewelry collection or for dressing up a casual outfit, a special occasion or the holidays.
