KAZURI black and white zebra bead earrings, shipping costs one penny
How they are made:
First, two pieces of 16 gauge sterling silver wires are heated red hot at either end to form a molten ball. After cooling/pickling, one end is hammered flat and drilled. The ear wire is created and soldered on and then the earring is tumbled to 'work harden' it and give it its final finish.
The bead is then inserted on the wire and that end is hammered flat so the bead cannot come off again.
The bead is approximately 7/8 inch across and approximately ¼ inch thick.
Kazuri produces handmade, hand-painted ceramic beads and jewelry in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa. Each bead is shaped by hand, without the aid of molds or forms, by one of the 340 local women employed by Kazuri. The beads are then polished and kiln fired, painted and fired again.

The wire with the bead is 1 1/8 to 1 ¼ inches in length from the top to the bottom.
