blue bamboo on a midnight background ... Devore silk burnout scarf
This 15"x60" Devore cut satin scarf is feathersoft and drapes beautifully. It has a sheer background of silk chiffon under a layer of shimmering rayon satin.
It is devilishly hard to photograph these scarves. The colors shift like a chameleon depending on the light. The background is sheer, but has much more depth with even a single fold of fabric resting on top of another layer. It mostly looks like a deep blue, but it can look like a reddish purple in bright light. The blue satin bamboo cutouts can appear to be a dark, dense blue in shadow, but it glows when struck by a sunbeam.
This scarf is dyed several times; each successive dyeing uses lighter colors to make the fabric shimmer with soft highlights. To make sure that it is colorfast, it was machine washed in hot water with a professional textile detergent. Next, it was machine washed a second time with Milsoft, which gives the scarf a buttery soft feel.
To care for your scarf, blot with a moist towel or hand wash in cold water if necessary with a couple of drops of gentle detergent like dishwashing liquid. Iron when damp to remove wrinkles. But one of the best things about this scarf is that it drapes even more beautifully when it's a little bit wrinkled!

ADDITIONAL INFO and FAQs
I'm really trying to make a go of it on artfire, but haven't made many sales yet. If you'd like to see what people have to say about my work, check out my etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/people/drapeyournape/feedback?ref=pr_feedback
For every sale, 50% of the profits will be donated to Fill This House. Every year, 200-300 kids age out of the foster care system just in Cuyahoga County, OH alone. Many of them are left without any family for support and may own just the clothes on their backs. This charitable organization provides these young people with new household items to begin the next phase of their lives. See http://www.fillthishouse.org/ for more information.
I love my new scarf, thank you again for another fabulous creation!=o)))
