DanDee Stuffed Toy with dog head and catepillar body. He's a cutie! But what inspired this creature?

Bottom of foot to top of body 5 inches
Pink part of body 16 inches long
The 20 legs are blue, yellow and white stripes with orange and yellow feet. The ears and tail are purple. He has white snout with plastic eyes and nose and embroidered mouth area.
Pink ears and orange hat with white pompom. The hat has a teddy bear hanger attached.

CONDITION: This little fellow is very good used condition. He is clean and I see no stains. The DanDee plastic tag is still attached. One leg is loose and can be re-stitched.
